DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – The City of Deerfield Beach has put the operators of the Deerfield Beach Cafe on notice and could terminate their lease if issues continue.
Local 10 News has obtained the letter sent to Class Action Restaurant Group last Thursday following a Dirty Dining report.
The city owns the property at the Deerfield Beach Pier and leases out the restaurant portion.
On Nov. 13, an inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation ordered the Deerfield Beach Cafe shut.
The inspector noted 12 violations, including roach issues and food out of temperature.
Records show the Inspector saw "approximately 62 live roaches in rear prep area by prep sink table and reach-in freezer and 12 live roaches by prep cooler at end of cook line."
The restaurant has been inspected twice since the ordered closure.
Six violations were found on Nov. 30.
Among them, the inspector wrote: "Raw animal foods not properly separated from one another based upon minimum required cooking temperature in reach-in cooler. Raw steak stored behind raw fish on cold holding drawer at cook line, where cross contamination may occur when steak is being pulled forward and drippings may fall on fish. Foods moved and properly stored. **Repeat Violation."
