Newlyweds from Georgia accused of kidnapping, raping woman

Couple also accused of entering 2 Miami businesses completely nude

MIAMI – A 28-year-old woman was kidnapped and raped Sunday after she left a Publix in Hialeah.

After the ordeal, the woman managed to escape and make sure her newlywed attackers ended up in jail.

The woman was in her vehicle, backing out of the parking lot of the supermarket at 155 E. Second Ave. and was about to put her car into drive when Rashada Hurley, 32, came up to her window, Miami-Dade police said.

The woman rolled down her window and was struck on the head by Hurley, causing her to lose consciousness, police said.

When she regained consciousness, Timothy Lowe, 37, was driving the vehicle, police said, and the woman was on her side getting choked by Hurley, who also punched her in the nose and mouth.

The woman attempted to fight back, but both Lowe and Hurley held her down.

Lowe drove the car to a Motel 6 at 7330 NW 36th St., where Hurley booked a room using the woman's credit card.

Police said it was in the motel room where Lowe and Hurley raped the woman.

The woman told police that they forced her to have intercourse and perform oral sex on Hurley, according to a police report.

Once Hurley and Lowe were distracted, the woman was able to escape.

The couple left the area afterward in the woman's car.

Police were able to track down Lowe and Hurley, and the woman was able to positively identify her attackers in a photographic lineup.

The couple was arrested Wednesday.

Authorities said that Lowe and Hurley are also accused of going inside two Miami businesses on Monday while they were completely nude.

According to their arrest reports, the couple entered a Walgreens at 3103 Biscayne Blvd.

Police said they also went to a 7-Eleven at 3401 Biscayne Blvd. where they took two sodas and left without paying.

"(They) open the door and go to the freezer for two sodas, and come back and leave," Ibis Rodriguez, who was working when the incident happened, said. "I'm thinking they are crazy."

It's unclear whether the couple stole anything from the Walgreens.

Lowe and Hurley, who are Georgia residents in South Florida on their honeymoon, were arrested on charges of kidnapping, robbery, sexual battery, indecent exposure, petty theft and grand theft.

"Hell of a honeymoon," Miami-Dade County Judge Victoria Sigler said.

The couple is being held without bond.
