HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A suspect in a Hallandale Beach double shooting is the brother of one of the victims, Chief Dwayne Flournoy said.
The chief said police received credible information that Eddie Mosley, 27, went to a barber shop on Sheridan Street in Hollywood and cut off his dreadlocks.
Flournoy said Marlene Turnquest, 24, was fatally shot, and Mosley's brother, Deneil Merritt, was critically wounded.
Family members said Turnquest was shot and killed just after midnight Wednesday in front of the Hallandale Beach home where she lived with her grandmother.
"I was asleep," Turnquest's grandmother, Dorothy Bolt, said. "I heard a shot, and as I got up, I heard another shot. Then I heard her scream out, 'Oh, no.'"
Bolt looked out her window and saw that her granddaughter had been shot.
Police said Mosley left the area on a bicycle.
Family members said Turnquest was planning to move to North Carolina this weekend.
Bolt said she believes that Mosley was one of her granddaughter's friends who had recently come to her house to help move furniture.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
