MIAMI ā A Miami-Dade police officer was arrested Sunday after he beat his wife following a night out at the Katt Williams comedy show at the James L. Knight Center, authorities said.
Miami-Dade police Detective Robin Pinkard confirmed that Alexander Bradley, 28, was arrested by Miami police on a domestic battery charge.
She said Bradley has been employed by the Miami-Dade Police Department since January 2009 and is assigned to the Northside District.
According to an arrest report, the officer and his wife grabbed some food with friends after the comedy show, and the men went to get their cars while their wives waited inside the Big Pink Cafeteria.
Police said one man's wife showed Bradley's wife a video of him "dancing inappropriately" with another woman after the men got up to get their cars.
Police said a fight ensued during the car ride home on Interstate 395, and Bradley beat his wife.Ā
A source told Local 10 News that Bradley kicked his wife out of the car after the fight, and she was picked up by another Miami-Dade police officer, who took her to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
Authorities have not confirmed whether another officer was involved in the incident.
According to the arrest report, the victim suffered serious injuries to her face, including a serious cut to her upper left eye, where she had to get stitches; a fractured left orbital; and injuries to her nose and mouth. Police said Bradley's wife was also spitting up blood.
Authorities said Bradley suffered only a scratch to the right side of his neck. He was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Sunday by Miami police.
Police said Bradley claimed that he was defending himself.
Pinkard said Bradley has been relieved of duty with pay.
"We are aware of the domestic violence allegations against one of our officers. These allegations are serious in nature and are against the core values of our department," Director Juan Perez said.
