BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning near Fort Lauderdale.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the shooting was reported about 3 a.m. near Northwest 28th Avenue and Northwest Eighth Street.
The victim, identified by relatives as Ferris Finley, 43, was found inside a white GMC pickup truck.
Deputies could be seen searching it for evidence.
Relatives said Finley's wife was out of town when the shooting happened and is traveling home.
"He's a loving brother. He would do anything for anybody, so I don't know why (or) who would want to kill him like this," Finley's sister, Latrell Turner, said. "I don't know why."
Relatives gathered together at the scene of the shooting after hearing the news.
"He just got shot," Finley's uncle, Lucious Ford, said. "Somebody shot him and killed him. They didn't rob him. They just killed him."
Deputies blocked off the neighborhood while they searched for the shooter, collected evidence and spoke with witnesses.
Finley's family said he was a husband, a father and a hard worker. They're now begging for anyone who knows anything about what happened to come forward.
"Whoever did this, whoever did this, please turn yourselves in because he don't deserve this," Finley's sister, Sharon Ford, said. "He don't bother nobody. He really don't bother nobody."
Relatives said they're not sure why Finley was in the neighborhood where he was killed. One of his friends said he last saw him at 2 a.m. and said Finley told him that he was going home to the Lauderdale Manors area.
The shooter remains on the loose. A motive for the shooting is unknown.
