Man found shot to death outside his northwest Miami-Dade home

Victim identified by daughter as Jacques Sylvestre, 63

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was found shot to death Thursday morning outside his home in northwest Miami-Dade County.

Sky 10 was flying above the crime scene at 1868 NW 112th St., where a yellow tarp was covering the body in the front yard.

The victim's daughter identified her father to Local 10 News as Jacques Sylvestre, 63. She said her father was a good man, who worked as a security guard.

Jacques Sylvestre, 63, pictured here in his driver's license photo, was fatally shot Nov. 15 in northwest Miami-Dade.

She said she has no clue who would want to kill her father.

"I just arrived on the scene and people are telling me they are sorry for my loss. I couldn't understand, and I walked down here, and that's what I arrived on, you know?" Tania Sylvestre said.

Tania Sylvestre said she is being held up by her church family after her father's death.

"He was a good, honest man," she said. "He worked hard all his life. He was a Christian man. He worked two jobs to take care of this family."

Miami-Dade police said the circumstances related to the shooting are under investigation.

Neighbors told Local 10 News that they heard gunshots late Wednesday night.

The victim's family is now pleading with anyone who has information about the shooting to come forward.

"This is the third tragedy in our house this year of our loss," Tania Sylvestre said. "If anybody knows anything, please come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
