Police in South Carolina say Farris Kaloti held women against their will

Farris Kaloti was arrested after a customer at a Whole Foods Market in Pinecrest recognized him.

PINECREST, Fla. – A man accused of posing as an Uber driver and holding women against their will in South Carolina has been arrested in South Florida.

Pinecrest police said Farris Kaloti was arrested Thursday afternoon after a Whole Foods Market customer recognized him from news reports and notified authorities, leading to his arrest.

Kaloti was wanted by police in Columbia, South Carolina. Police there said Kaloti assaulted a woman who got into his car on Nov. 26 and tried to help her friend get out.

A University of South Carolina campus alert said Kaloti is accused of offering rides to multiple women and taking them to places other than their intended destinations, refusing to let them out.

Kaloti was arrested on an out-of-state warrant. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he was being held without bond.
