CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Police officers temporarily shut down the Shops at Merrick Park while they searched for a suspect on Monday afternoon.
Coral Gables Police Department officers set up a perimeter that included the shopping mall at 358 San Lorenzo Ave., as they searched for a man accused of stealing a white Chevy Equinox on Miracle Mile.

Witnesses said there were officers preventing drivers from accessing a nearby area on Ponce De Leon Boulevard.
After about 50 minutes, officers broke down the perimeter and reopened the roads around the shopping mall saying only that "there is no immediate threat to the public."
The officers found the abandoned car, but they didn't find the driver.

Perimeter is being broke down...all roads around Shops of Merrick Park are open and pedestrian traffic around the area is open. There is no immediate threat to the public.
