Body covered by yellow tarp after fatal shooting in northwest Miami-Dade

Police investigate shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in northwest Miami-Dade County.

The shooting was reported near Northwest 22nd Avenue and Northwest 66th Street.

A body was covered by a yellow tarp at the scene.

Two women came to the scene to find out whether the person killed was their 18-year-old cousin.

"Somebody that stay around here called us and say, 'Y'all cousin got killed,'" a woman who identified herself only as Trinity said.

The women said a photo of the victim has been circulating on Facebook.

"Just a lot of emotions. We don't know for sure (whether) it's him, but a picture is going around on Facebook and it sure looks like him," another cousin, who identified herself as Ayanah, said.

Miami-Dade police were at the scene investigating. They taped off a small section in front of a home, where a blue baseball cap was lying on the floor next to a can inside of a brown paper bag.

Police didn't say what led to the shooting or whether they were searching for the shooter.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
