34-year-old woman killed in Homestead, police say

Reward of up to $3,000 offered for information that leads to arrest

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A 34-year-old woman was killed early Thursday in Homestead, authorities said.

The incident was reported about 12:40 a.m. at the victim's home in the area of Southeast 36th Avenue and Second Street.

The victim was identified as Tiara Jackson.

Police did not immediately say how Jackson was killed or whether a motive was known, but neighbors said they heard gunshots.

"She was shot. We heard the gunshots. She has a little kid, which is pretty sad," neighbor Kiara Infante said. "My husband woke up at 3 a.m. to leave to work and that's when we noticed all the cops."

Neighbors said Jackson lived at the house with her husband, Steve Jackson, and their son.

Steve Jackson was interviewed by detectives, but has not been charged in his wife's death.

Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the killer.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
