MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Six people were hurt Monday morning after a vehicle crashed into a Dunkin' Donuts in west Miami-Dade County.
Sky 10 was above the scene as the car was inside the doughnut shop at 8290 W. Flager St.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Felipe Lay said six patrons were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One of them was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver of the car wasn't injured. It appeared she may have put the car into drive instead of reverse while trying to back out of a parking space.
"It was quite surprising to see, and the police will determine how that car ended up in there," Lay said.
An employee said she heard what sounded like an explosion and then saw the car near the counter where she typically sells coffee and doughnuts.
"Everybody is OK," the woman told Local 10 News. "All the employees are OK."
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
As for the doughnuts, they were thrown away.
