They checked the app and could not believe what they saw.

A gang of very furry porch pirates.

ā€œAlthough weā€™ve seen many animals in our community; deer, turkeys, bobcats, otters, coyotes, alligators and snakes including cottonmouths, weā€™ve never seen a bear,ā€ Michael Blass told Local 10 News.

He said that streak ended on Saturday when the family of black bears paid a visit.

ā€œNot sure why they came, but believe they left after they saw our window sign,ā€ Blass said.

The Blasses posted a sign on their front window that says, ā€œPlease do not disturb. Iā€™m sleeping... and if Iā€™m awake, I probably donā€™t want to see you.ā€

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, there are about 4,000 black bears in Florida.

Adult bears weigh between 250 and 350 pounds.

The community where the Blasses live is adjacent to thousands of wooded acres near the Picayune Strand State Forest.
