NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Two people were wounded in a shootout Tuesday morning outside Steve's Pizza in North Miami, police said.
Crime scene tape surrounded the parking lot of the restaurant on the corner of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 121st Street.
North Miami police officers could be seen picking up evidence markers on the ground.
There was also a black minivan with a bullet hole in the windshield.
North Miami police said a man walking along Biscayne Boulevard approached a group of people standing near a red BMW and an argument ensued.
Police said the man shot into the crowd and someone returned fire.
Two people who weren't involved in the shootout were injured. One person was grazed in the arm and treated at the scene, while another was shot in the leg and taken to Aventura Hospital.
Jesse Valinsky, co-owner of Steve's Pizza, said one of his cooks who was inside the restaurant is helping police.
"He said he heard a lot of shots fired and I do believe he got a license plate," Valinsky said. "I hope."
Police are trying to determine if the victims were patrons of Steve's Pizza or just happened to be in the parking lot at the time.
"Hopefully they catch whoever was involved here," Valinsky told Local 10 News.
