MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police officers responded to a shooting call at 10998 SW 184th St. just after 1 p.m. Friday.
A male uniformed security guard shot a woman in the back by accident, officers said.
The woman, 62, was transported to Jackson South Medical Center by ambulance as a trauma alert and later died.
The woman was believed to have been at a unit inside the strip mall that operates as a gambling hall or small casino, investigators said.
The security guard stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
"The initial investigation has revealed there was no verbal or physical altercation that led to the shooting," a Miami-Dade spokesman said.
This is an ongoing investigation.
