HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police have made an arrest following a brawl that broke out during a youth basketball game held earlier this month.
Police announced Wednesday that Bennet Wyche was arrested on a battery charge for his role in the incident, which was caught on camera.
The fight took place during a girls' basketball game at the Washington Park Community Center.
"It was a long time coming," the girl's uncle, Shemar Adams, told Local 10 News.
In the cellphone video, a man is seen coming onto the court and hitting a girl from behind.
Wyche, 43, an employee for Broward County Public Schools, had already been reassigned to a position away from children. He had been working as a security specialist at Lauderdale Lakes Middle School.
"Makes me wonder how he was ever around children," Adams said. "If he was around children, why wasn't he able to behave himself better in this situation? As a school security guard, you should be used to breaking up a lot of teenage fights."
