HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A suspect accused of beating another man over a parking spot dispute has been arrested.
Hollywood police said Deandre Hampton, 21, turned himself in Tuesday evening.
Police received many tips after the May 25 incident outside the Shore View Hotel.
"I see that they're making a real excepted effort to catch who this person is," the victim, Rudy Harow, told Local 10 News.
Harow said he has been overwhelmed by all the well wishes and support from the police departments who have gotten involved in the search for Hampton.
"Everybody's coming to me, giving me their good wishes and (are) glad that I'm OK," Harow said.
Harow, who is almost 70, runs the Shore View Hotel in Hollywood.
He said he walked up to Hampton, who was illegally parked in a spot and arguing with a woman in the car. He said Hampton attacked him after he asked him to move his car.
A woman broke up the attack and Hampton and the woman fled the scene in a red Ford Mustang.
Authorities followed up on several leads after many people called Crime Stoppers and obtained an arrest warrant for Hampton on Tuesday.
He appeared in court Wednesday, at which time his mother told a judge that her recent divorce has taken a toll on her son and asked for a reasonable bond to be set.
The judge ultimately set Hampton's bond at $30,000 and ordered him to stay away from the victim and the property where the incident occurred.
