Man killed outside Florida Department of Corrections building in Miami Gardens

Surveillance video shows 2 people running up to SUV

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A man was killed Wednesday morning outside a Florida Department of Corrections probation office in Miami Gardens, authorities confirmed.

Miami Gardens police said the shooting was reported around 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the building at 3601 NW 167th St.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, 33-year-old Prince J. Taylor.

According to a preliminary investigation, Taylor had arrived at the state probation office and was in the process of parking when two men got out of a vehicle and started shooting at him, police said Wednesday night.

Prince J. Taylor, 33, was fatally shot June 19 outside the Florida Department of Corrections probation office in Miami Gardens.

Taylor died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Local 10 News reporter Ian Margol went to the scene after the incident and saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe with bullet holes and a shattered window. Surveillance video from a nearby business shows the SUV parking before two people suddenly run up to it. As they disappeared out of view behind a truck, they began shooting.

They then turned, ran back across the parking lot and jumped into a waiting SUV before driving away.

Margol said several people were crying at the scene.

Miami-Dade police were assisting the Miami Gardens Police Department in the investigation.

A spokeswoman for Miami Gardens police said detectives believe the victim was targeted and this was not a random shooting.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami Gardens police Detective C. Pacheco at 305-474-1583. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest.
