Smith brought the mixed-breedĀ dog, Dexter, to LeadER Animal SpecialtyĀ Hospital on Thursday, telling the staff thatĀ the dog had fallen in the shower, policeĀ said. However, veterinarianĀ Marcos Unis alerted authorities after examining Dexter.
Unis told police that Dexter had injuries to his headĀ consistent with blunt-force trauma. Dexter suffered multiple skull fractures and had cuts on the back of his head, Unis said.
