MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – An aspiring firefighter was holding his 22-month-old son outside of his home when he was fatally shot Monday night, Miami Gardens police said.

Gunmen shot at Darin Williams and his son about 8:50 p.m., in the residential area near Crestview Elementary School. Doctors at Jackson Memorial Hospital pronounced Williams dead. His son survived.
