OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – A large fire erupted Friday morning at a used auto parts business in Opa-locka, authorities said.
Sky 10 was above AAAA Used Auto Parts at 12766 Cairo Lane shortly after 9:30 a.m. as numerous scrapped vehicles were on fire.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 9:42 a.m.
The owner of the shop told Local 10 News reporter Alex Finnie that he and his son tried to put out the flames before first responders arrived, but were unsuccessful.
Daniel Lanbman works close by at Minton Auto Shop. His surveillance cameras captured trucks rushing to the scene as smoke billowed heavily.
"It's dangerous work around here," he said. "People working with gas, diesel, oil. But, you know, you have to take safety precautions."
The owner of AAAA Used Auto Parts said nine vehicles were destroyed.
It's unclear what sparked the fire.
