Detectives search for shooter of golden retrievers in Pembroke Pines

Golden retriever killed, another injured in animal cruelty case

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Two beloved golden retrievers, Maide and Max, were shot at their home's yard in Pembroke Pines.

Detectives believe a man used a rifle with steel BBs to wound Madie and kill Max  on Dec. 3 in the Pasadena Lakes community. He aimed at the dog's hearts.

Surveillance video shows 10-yea-old Madie bled to death. The dogs' owner, Charles Mione, said the veterinarian found a fragment near 7-year-old Max's aorta.

Detectives were asking anyone with information to call the Pembroke Pines Police Investigations Division at 954-431-2225 or 954-431-2200 or the Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
