1 person seriously hurt after crash in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – One person was seriously injured in a crash Saturday morning in Pembroke Pines, police said.

Police said Richter Flambert, 46, of North Miami was driving south on University Drive about 7:45 a.m. when he lost control of his car and slammed into a several vehicles that were stopped at a red light at Johnston Street.

Flambert was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Police described his injuries as life-threatening. Police think Flambert may have had a medical issue, which caused him to lose control of the car.  

Three other cars were damaged in the pileup, police said. Two drivers and two passengers were also transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, but police described their injuries as not life threatening.
