PLANTATION, Fla. – A Plantation man is accused of killing one of his roommates this week and throwing his body in a dumpster.
The killing was reported about 5 p.m. Thursday in the 7000 block of NW 15th St.Â
Plantation police said the suspect, Eric Robinson, 46, lived at the home with another man and a woman.Â
Detectives believe that a relationship involving the woman and both men led to the killing.Â
Police said the 39-year-old victim's body was found in a garbage dumpster located at Nob Hill Road and Cleary Boulevard.
"It kind of shakes me up," neighbor Patrick Massey said. "My son lives right there and my grandbabies are right there. I am really concerned."
The victim's identity is being withheld as authorities work to notify his next of kin.
Robinson was arrested on a first-degree murder charge.Â
"Because of what we saw and the kind of personality he has, we didn't want to have much association with him at all," neighbor Gail Ponton said. "We kind of kept our distance from him."
Records show that Robinson was previously arrested in August 2016 at the same home after he allegedly beat his live-in girlfriend while wearing brass knuckles.
According to an arrest report, the couple got into an argument and Robinson put on brass knuckles and punched the victim throughout her entire body.
Plantation police were called to the home and said that the woman had severe bruising to her face, neck, arms, shoulders and hands.
Police said the victim told them that Robinson also choked her until she passed out. She said she awoke to Robinson punching her throughout her body.Â
Police said the woman claimed that Robinson threatened to kill her and threw her on the floor when he couldn't find his keys.
She said he also threw her against a wall and slapped her over her entire body.Â
It's unclear whether the girlfriend from last year is the satoddme woman who currently lived with Robinson.Â
"I am just glad that Eric is where he should be," Ponton said.Â
