3 arrested in connection with Ocean Drive robbery

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Three men were arrested Thursday in connection with an early-morning robbery in Miami Beach, authorities said.

The robbery was reported about 1 a.m. in the 900 block of Ocean Drive.

According to an arrest report, the victim spoke with co-workers in front of Mango's before he left, walking west on Ninth Street.

Police said the victim made a right turn into an alleyway behind the club when a black Dodge Ram cut him off.

Police said the driver pointed a semi-automatic gun at the victim from inside the pickup truck and told him, "Stay right there and don't move or I will shoot you."

Surveillance video shows the front passenger getting out of the truck.

The victim told officers that the man pointed a gun at his lower back and said, "Give me everything so we don't shoot you."

Police said the man reached into the victim's pockets and took his wallet. Authorities said the rear passenger got out of the vehicle and snatched two gold chains with a charm from the victim's neck.

The video shows the driver reversing after the robbers got back inside and taking off west toward Collins Avenue.

Police spotted the Dodge Ram shortly after the robbery and pulled it over at Northwest 79th Street and 22nd Avenue in the city of Miami.

The victim was taken to the scene and identified the suspects as the men who robbed him.

The suspects were identified as Nathaniel Jean Baptist, 24, who was driving the vehicle, Jarell Dukes, 21, who was the front passenger, and Roscoe Burton Jr., 22, who was the rear passenger.

Detectives said Dukes confessed to the burglary and implicated his accomplices in the crime. 

The men face charges of armed robbery. Burton and Dukes also face a charge of possession of marijuana, and Dukes and Jean Baptist face charges of carrying a concealed firearm and displaying a fireman while committing a felony.
