KEY LARGO, Fla. – It was a spooky sound for residents living on Transylvania Avenue in Key Largo on Tuesday afternoon after they heard gunshots.
Two people called 911 to say they heard gunfire coming from a home along Transylvania Avenue.
When Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they found the front and back doors to the house open.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said deputies called for the resident, later identified as Roger Scheid, to come out. He did so, naked and apparently intoxicated.
Herrin said a fully loaded shotgun was found on the bed in one of the bedrooms, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun was found on a pile of clothing. Deputies also found two spent shell casings on the ground near the back porch.
Scheid told deputies conflicting stories as to why he fired the shots into the air -- that he was cleaning his guns and that he was checking them to make sure they worked, Herrin said.
The 66-year-old man was arrested on two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
