MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A South Florida mother is pleading with the public to come forward with any information about her son's killers, a month after he was fatally shot.
Loraine Jean Pierre said the killing of the young father is consuming her family.
"It hurts so bad that they just took him away like that," Jean Pierre said.
The emotion is still raw for Jean Pierre and her family, a little more than four weeks since her son Raheem Jean Pierre was killed in front of their house as he sat in his car.
"These people are ruthless killers and they're cold-blooded murderers," Loraine Jean Pierre said.
The shooting was reported about 10:30 p.m. July 27 in the 2400 block of Northwest 175th Terrace in Miami Gardens.
Loraine Jean Pierre said more than one person ran up to her son's car and shot it up.
She said two passengers were wounded.
Police have since turned over the car to the victim's mother.
"I tried to, like, tape it up and glue it up right here," she told Local 10 News as she showed the vehicle.
Loraine Jean Pierre also showed where the bullets entered their house.
"It was so close and so loud. I told my girls, 'Get down on the floor, get down on the floor,' and they shoot for maybe 10 rounds," she said.
No one inside the home was injured, despite a bullet traveling all the way inside and hitting a bedroom closet.
Loraine Jean Pierre said she went outside and found her son clinging to life.
Raheem Jean Pierre leaves behind two little sisters and a 1-year-old baby of his own.
Miami Gardens police have announced no arrests or motives in the case.
"They're going to pay for what they (did) to my son," Loraine Jean Pierre said. "They're not going to get away with it. My tears are not going in vain."
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
