Authorities evacuate Dolphin Mall Saturday night

After evacuation, no injuries, arrests or evidence of a shooting

SWEETWATER, Fla. – Authorities evacuated Dolphin Mall during a busy Saturday night to investigate reports of a shooting.

There was panic during the evacuation as police officers followed the tactical procedure of an "active shooter" situation.

The Miami-Dade Police Department assisted Sweetwater police officers with securing the mall at 11401 NW 12th St., which remained on lockdown until Sunday morning.

"The calls came in as a potential shots fired," Sweetwater Commissioner Marcos Villanueva said during the initial investigation.

Sweetwater police officers scanned the property in search of an alleged shooter.

During the evacuation, shoppers and store employees were forced out with their hands up and some were ordered to wait in their cars.

Authorities later determined there were no injuries and didn't arrest any suspects.
