WESTON, Fla. – Police officers believe a group of teenagers in a Lexus sneaked into a gated community known as the Islands at Weston to spread mischief early Wednesday morning.
It was about 4 a.m., when police officers said the teens broke into several cars and stole one. Residents on Camellia Lane and Camellia Circle in Weston woke up to about 13 vehicles burglarized.
Surveillance video showed a car thief took a Ford Explorer that had been parked on Camellia Circle.
Patricia Bernardini, whose relative owned the stolen car, said she learned a lesson and she had some advise: "Lock your cars."
Bernardini believes the culprits either live in the neighborhood or have friends in the neighborhood.
Police officers were asking anyone with information to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
