Brush fire put out at Helen Klein Pineland Preserve in Coconut Creek

COCONUT CREEK, FL – Firefighters were met with 30 foot flames when they arrived at Helen Klein Pineland Preserve on Tuesday, Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue said. 

The brush fire spanned over an acre of land, officials said. 

Crews from Coral Springs Fire Department and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue aided in putting out the fire. 

It took about an hour to get the fire under control, officials said, and Hillsboro Boulevard was shut down for about 45 minutes as crews worked to extinguish the flames. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
