Vice President Joe Biden speaks at fundraiser in Hollywood

Florida Democratic Party hosts Leadership Blue gala

Former Vice President Joe Biden was the key note speaker for the Florida Democratic Party's  Leadership Blue fundraising dinner in Hollywood on Saturday night. 

Biden was at the Diplomat Beach Resort for an event that had raised at least $850,000 by Friday afternoon.

The event's panels began at 11 a.m., as the party considers candidates for gubernatorial nominees.

The other speakers of the gala included Sen. Bill Nelson, DNC Vice Chair Michael Blake, Sen. Oscar Braynon, Sen. Jeff Clemens, Rep. Janet Cruz, Rep. Kionne McGhee, Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith and Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam.

Our Voice, Our Issues Panel: The moderator was Rep. Cynthia Stafford. The panelists were Sen. Oscar Braynon, Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith, Anna Eskamani from Planned Parenthood, Tom Conboy from the South Florida Engineering and Consulting LLC, Mary Green the President of the Brevard Democratic Disability Caucus and Ghazala Salam, of the American Muslim Democratic Caucus.  

 

The Resistance Panel: The moderator was DeRay McKesson, of Black Lives Matter. The panelists were Dominik Whitehead of the AFSCME, Ida Eskamani, of Organize Florida, Charo Valero of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, Maria Rodriguez of the Florida Immigrant Coalition, Carrie Feit of the Women’s March of Florida and Karla Hernandez Mats of United Teachers of Dade. 

 

The Gubernatorial Panel: The Progressive Caucus of Florida hosted the event. Keith Fitzgerald was the moderator, and the panelists were Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Former Congresswoman Gwen Graham and Chris King.
