Bus catches fire in vacant lot near Golden Glades Interchange

Nearby residents say bus had been abandoned, had graffiti on it

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – An old bus caught fire Monday in an abandoned property near the Golden Glades interchange.

Local 10 News was first at the scene of the fire, which sent heavy black smoke into the air.

Miami Gardens police, the Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were called to the fire.

Area residents told Local 10 News reporter Terrell Forney that the bus had been abandoned for a while and had graffiti on it.

The bus was parked near an abandoned building that used to be a hospital, and the building was gated with chains, which made it difficult for firefighters to access the fire immediately.

The building did not catch on fire.
