FHP says car swerved off highway, struck disabled tractor-trailer

Four people died and one person was critically injured Sunday in a crash on Interstate 75 in Alachua

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Two adults and two children from Hollywood were killed Sunday morning in a crash on Interstate 75 in Alachua County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Nathan Russell, 37, was driving south on I-75 shortly before 8:45 a.m. when his Chrysler 200 veered off the highway and struck the back of a disabled tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder.

Russell, his wife, Lynda Russell, 35, and two of their children, LaNyah Russell, 15, and Natayah Russell, 10, died in the crash. A fourth passenger, Nathan Russell Jr., 10, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn't injured.
