DORAL, Fla. – Pedro Viloria jumped out of a Doral McDonald's drive-thru window to help an off duty Miami-Dade police officer whose heart apparently stopped while she was in line.
The video shows the officers SUV rolling forward - with her two kids in the back seat.
Viloria, who ran to help and get help, was back at work Wednesday and said he’s getting attention from news outlets and people around the world and right here at home.
"They've been congratulating me today, like oh, 'Oh, I saw you, thank you for doing what you did, it was a great example,'" he said.
The effort to save that officer included another medically trained customer, two off duty Miami-Dade Fire Rescue members who were just stopping in for breakfast and a rookie Doral police officer.
"I was actually down the street," Officer Chantel Cubelo said. "I was on 41st Street and 107th Avenue."
Cubelo heard the call rushed to the scene.
"When I arrived, fire rescue had already advised that she did not have a pulse," Cubelo said.
Cubelo then pulled out her department issued defibrillator.
"We applied the lap pans onto the patient and we started the AED machine, which restarted her pulse," she said.
The combined effort helped the officer.
"I hope she gets out of the hospital, " Viloria said.
Cubelo shares the same thought.
"My main concern is that she's doing better. That's what's more important," she said.
