MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Gardens police are searching for the person who fatally shot a man last Thursday and then robbed him of his gold chain.
Police said Evan Flynn, 22, was leaving a friend's home near Northwest 34th Avenue and 206th Street shortly before 10 p.m. when he was shot.
Surveillance video released Wednesday captured the shooting and robbery.
Flynn, who was wearing a white T-shirt, ran away but fell to the ground as the gunman followed behind. The gunman is seen snatching the necklace from the victim after shooting him.
Relatives told Local 10 News reporter Erica Rakow that the gold chain is worth about $9,000.
They said Flynn is survived by his young son.
A teddy bear and balloons now mark the spot when the young father was killed.
No suspects have been identified in the case, but relatives are certain that Flynn was targeted for the expensive chain.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
