MIAMI – A body was pulled from the Blue Lagoon Tuesday in Miami, authorities said.
Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said the body was pulled from the middle of the Blue Lagoon, near an abandoned building off Northwest 57th Avenue, between Seventh and 11th streets.
Miami police also responded to the scene to investigate the death after someone called 911 shortly before 12:30 p.m.
Police said the body appeared to be that of a white, Hispanic man.
"The 911 caller was a resident who was on her balcony on the southern side of the lagoon, and (she) spotted the body floating in the water," Officer Christopher Best said.
Authorities have not yet identified the body or the cause of death. The body was taken to the medical examiner's office, where an autopsy will be performed.
