Man wearing 'Black History' shirt tries to rob South Florida bank

Would-be robber wearing Miami Heat hat, sunglasses gets away emptyhanded

This man wearing a Miami Heat hat and a "Black History" shirt tried to rob a Wells Fargo branch Thursday in Lake Worth.

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – A man wearing a "Black History" shirt chose Black History Month to attempt a robbery at a South Florida bank, authorities said.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the man tried to rob a Wells Fargo branch in the 100 block of North Dixie Highway in Lake Worth shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Surveillance photographs show the man wearing a Miami Heat hat, dark sunglasses and a blue shirt with the words "Black History" on it. The man also had teardrop tattoos under both eyes.

Barbera said the man was unsuccessful and ran away.
