HIALEAH, Fla. – Two toddlers were taken to a hospital after a house caught fire Saturday afternoon in Hialeah.
The fire started about 5 p.m. at 236 E. 56th St. in a rear bedroom where two toddlers were sleeping, Hialeah Fire Department Capt. Cesar Espinosa said.
One of the toddlers, ages 2 and 4, suffered second-degree burns to her arm, Espinosa said. Both toddlers and a woman were taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Sixteen residents were displaced because of the fire. The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
