2 rescued after roof of business collapses in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A portion of a roof collapsed Thursday afternoon at a northwest Miami-Dade County business, trapping two people inside, authorities said.

The incident was reported about 4:45 p.m.

Four construction workers were inside the business on Northwest 37th Avenue, but two were able to get out of the building, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

Firefighters freed the other two people inside.

A view from Sky 10 showed firefighters removing the rubble from the collapsed roof.  A firefighter could be seen wrapping a bandage around a man's head.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to lower the man to the ground from the roof.

One of the trapped workers was taken to a hospital, but authorities said he did not suffer serious injuries.

The building is under construction, but it's unclear what caused the collapse.
