MIAMI ā Guillermo "Guille"Ā Benites, who anchored the Spanish-language afternoon newscast for Univision's Miami station for nearly four decades, died on Saturday, Univision reported on social media.Ā
Benites, who was born in Argentina and moved to Miami in 1968, began his career in radio and later worked as a meteorologist and anchor for Univision.Ā

"He was a Miami legend," Sen. Marco Rubio's aide Alex Burgos wrote on Twitter. "For many in my generation, our memories of him are also the memories of time we spent with out grandparents."
Benites, who suffered from respiratory problems, anchored his last "Canal 23" newscast Sept. 18, 2015.Ā
Former Univision president AlinaĀ Falcon, now working for NBC UniversalĀ Telemundo Enterprises reacted to the news on Twitter. Ā
"Heartbroken by the passing of Ā a great man and professional," Falcon wrote.Ā
