MIAMI – One person was killed and two others were injured Sunday night after a shooting in Miami, police said.
The shooting was reported about 11:50 p.m. outside Miller's Complex Market on Northwest 15th Avenue.
Police said a group of people were standing outside the store when they were approached by another group of people.
Witnesses said they heard several gunshots.
"We don't know whether there was one person shooting or multiple people shooting," Officer Yelitza Cedano said. "Call and be anonymous, and we will not put your name out, but we do need your cooperation in order to resolve this. The community needs to be involved."
Multiple evidence markers were placed at the scene by police, and several bicycles and a vehicle that was caught in the crossfire were taken away as evidence.
"A lot of young people just killing young people. It's a regular thing and it's sad," Joe McClure, who heard the gunshots, said.
Police said the victim who died was a 22-year-old man, who had been taken to North Shore Medical Center. A 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were injured in the shooting and were taken to North Shore Medical Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The victims' identities have not been released by authorities, but relatives identified the victim killed as Jarrett Houston.
"Their (expletive) need to be under the jail. That's where they need to be," a woman who knew Houston said.
The woman told Local 10 News reporter Layron Livingston that Houston was not involved in anything that could have gotten him into trouble, and was simply at the store when he got shot.
No description was given of the shooter or shooters.
Cedano said it's unclear whether the victims were the intended targets.
