CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A man was caught on camera wheeling a stroller out of a Coral Gables store, but he was no doting dad. Employees say he's stroller thief.
The owner of the store happened to be watching the security camera feed at the very moment someone picked up one of her strollers and walked right out with it.
"Out of nowhere, he just grabbed the stroller and walked away with the stroller," said Isis Parrado, of Liapela Modern Baby.
It was around 12:45 on Black Friday at Liapela Modern Baby at the Village of Merrick Park Mall in Coral Gables.
A man was seen wandering aimlessly around the store, fumbling with his phone and checking out the merchandise.
"You can tell he looked suspicious -- looking around too much, walking around too much -- and a man by himself unusually with a stroller and no baby?" Parrado said.
Once he got near the front door, the man made his move and walked out with the stroller. He was in and out of the store in three minutes.
"He took the tag off the stroller, and we actually found the tag in the street," Parrado said. "Mall security found the tag, so he left evidence."
So what exactly did he get away with?
"It's the Moxi Stroller by 4Moms, a brand-new stroller, just came out on the market," Parrado said.
With a cellphone charger, headlights and a speed and temperature gauge, the stroller's retail value is $700.
The folks who run the store are now hoping someone might recognize the baby carriage bandit.
"It would be the right thing to do," Parrado said.
Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call the Coral Gables Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
