Driver shot multiple times in Pembroke Pines, crashes into tree

Police search for shooter

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A man crashed his white Infinity sedan into a tree Monday in Pembroke Pines after being shot multiple times, police said.

The shooting occurred when the victim was traveling west in the 8600 block of Pembroke Road during rush hour.

Pembroke Pines police Sgt. Darryl Curtiss said the victim was shot by someone in another vehicle that was heading in the same direction. The shooter's vehicle immediately fled the area.

The victim was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, police said. 

Pembroke Road was shut down for hours Monday between University Drive and Douglas Road as police investigated. 

Authorities said the victim was conscious after the shooting and underwent surgery. He is expected to be questioned by detectives once he is well enough so they can determine what led to the shooting.
