Suspects face murder charges in fatal shooting of Jasmin Nealy at Days Inn

Schenieder Joseph and Lakeshia Thomas face murder charges in the death of Jasmin Nealy, whose body was found in a pool of blood inside a Days Inn motel room in Oakland Park.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A Margate couple has been arrested in the death of an Orlando woman whose body was found in a pool of blood at an Oakland Park motel.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said Schenieder Joseph, 27, and Lakeshia Thomas, 32, were arrested Wednesday on murder charges. They are accused of killing Jasmin Nealy, 30, whose body was found July 25 inside a room at the Days Inn on Oakland Park Boulevard.

The housekeeping staff found Nealy's body after noticing that the door to room 516 had been left partially open.

Carter said Nealy had been shot several hours earlier. Her body was found in a pool of blood on the floor near the front door.

Homicide investigators reviewed Nealy's cellphone and found that she had been communicating with Joseph via text messages. Investigators said Nealy and Joseph had arranged to meet in Nealy's motel room shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Carter said text messages showed that Joseph and Nealy spoke just a few minutes before Joseph was recorded by the motel's security cameras walking through the parking lot.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video that showed Joseph taking the stairs to the fifth floor and Thomas taking the elevator. Investigators said Joseph entered the room first, and Thomas went inside seconds later.

Carter said the suspects were in the room for less than a minute before they left together.

A motive for the shooting was not revealed.
