MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Two people died and two others were injured Monday afternoon in a head-on collision in the Florida Keys.
The fatal crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. at mile marker 39 of U.S. Highway 1, between the Seven Mile Bridge and Bahia Honda State Park.

A 32-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.
Monroe County spokeswoman Cammy Clark said a car traveling north and a pickup truck traveling south collided.
One person died at the scene, and another was pronounced dead at Fishermen's Hospital in Marathon.
The crash forced the closure of the Overseas Highway for several hours, with some alternating traffic allowed to pass through. The road was reopened in both directions just before 8 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The names of the victims haven't been released.
