POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A man was found suffering from a gunshot wound Monday morning inside the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Pompano Beach, authorities said.
Witnesses told Local 10 News that they heard one gunshot about 4:30 a.m. and saw a white four-door sedan speed away from the parking lot.
A black Corvette was surrounded by police tape as detectives investigated what happened.
"He was definitely in the car when he was shot," a witness, who did not want to be identified, said.
Deputies said the victim, Alex Eichmann, 48, was taken to Broward Health North, where he died.
"We're really just starting to piece together the puzzle of this homicide," Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said.
Local 10 News reporter Layron Livingston saw deputies fingerprinting a man that was in the drive-thru of the restaurant, but authorities have not said what his possible connection could be.
