Miami police Officer Lenny Linardos dies

MIAMI – Officer Lenny Linardos of the Miami Police Department died Saturday. 

Linardos' girlfriend found the officer unresponsive inside his home, according to a Facebook post by Javier Ortiz, the president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police.

Linardos was taken to Aventura Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

In his post, Ortiz asked for prayers for Linardos' 10-year-old son and girlfriend.

The medical examiner's office is working to determine the cause of Linardos' death.

Miami police posted a condolences to Linardos' family and friends via Twitter, writing that the department is "saddened today as one of our own has passed away."
