TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol will soon be sporting a look that will be a blast from the past for many old school motorists.
Over the next year, FHP vehicles will be outfitted with "Arrive Alive" plates on their front bumpers.

According to the Florida Departy of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the original "Arrive Alive" campaign dates back to 1970 and was used to help reduce traffic-related deaths by addressing proper highway speed, road manners and the importance of seat belts.
While the original plates began with white letters over a blue background, the new plates are reminiscent of the later versions that featured orange letters over a white plate.
“The Florida Highway Patrol is committed to keeping Florida roadways safe for all motorists and the ‘Arrive Alive’ campaign is a valuable part of our history,” said Colonel Gene Spaulding, Director of the Florida Highway Patrol.
