MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old man who jumped on the hood of a woman's car Tuesday night on the Palmetto Expressway was on some type of drug that caused him to hallucinate, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Jose Sanchez said Wednesday in a news release.
The incident was reported just after 9 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Northwest 57th Avenue.

Sanchez said Trooper Leon Paige was working an off-duty detail with Community Asphalt when the driver of a white Mercedes-Benz pulled over to his right.
Sanchez said the suspect was on top of the car with a knife in his mouth. Authorities said the man failed to comply with Paige's orders to get on the ground, and Paige was forced to deploy his Taser when the suspect reached for the knife.
According to Sanchez, the suspect abandoned his car in the center eastbound lane and jumped on the hood of Gloria Hicks Allen's car. Sanchez said she was driving in the opposite direction when the man jumped on her car, and she pulled over when she saw emergency lights coming from where Paige was working.
Sanchez said Paige deployed his Taser four times and required help from multiple officers to restrain the man.
The suspect was hospitalized at Palmetto General Hospital under the Baker Act.
The incident shut down the eastbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway at Northwest 57th Avenue for more than an hour.
Nobody was hurt.
It's unclear what charges the man will face.
