HIALEAH, Fla.Police have arrested two men accused of forcing their way inside a Hialeah home and injuring a 76-year-old man who answered the door.

The home-invasion robbery was reported about 3 p.m. Monday at 589 E. 52nd St.

Hialeah police Sgt. Carl Zogby said Alexander Javier Vega, 21, and an another armed man, also in his 20s, struck the 76-year-old man in the head with a gun and demanded money from him.

Zogby said the victim's 20-year-old granddaughter was in the home when she was confronted by the gunmen. Zogby said they were able to take some cash and jewelry before running out of the home.

A 911 call led to their apprehension a few blocks away, where police spotted them running.

The victim was taken to Palmetto General Hospital in stable condition. His granddaughter wasn't injured.

Zogby said the suspects' names and charges will be forthcoming.
