Police say suspect shot man who bumped into him while walking on Ocean Drive

Haneef Young is accused of shooting a man who bumped into him while walking along Ocean Drive.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Miami Gardens man has been arrested in connection with a South Beach shooting.

Haneef Young, 26, was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

Miami Beach police said Young shot a man who bumped into him while they were walking along Ocean Drive on Saturday night.

According to the arrest affidavit, Young and the victim got into an argument after they bumped into each other. After the argument ended, Young, who was still upset, walked back to his car, got into the passenger seat and rode off in search of the man.

Once Young found the man, the car stopped and Young, who was armed with a gun, fired numerous shots at the man, the affidavit said.

The car then sped off along Collins Avenue.

The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Young refused to speak to detectives.
